Synopsis via Goodreads: "In Harmony...gives a voice to the voiceless..."

The root of all madness is an unbearable truth…

At seventeen, Willow Holloway’s life was torn apart. The happy, driven girl is gone, and she is left wracked by post-traumatic stress her body remembers even if she does not. When her father suddenly uproots the family from their posh penthouse in New York City to the tiny town of Harmony, Indiana, Willow becomes more untethered and lost under the weight of her secret. On a whim, she auditions for a part in the community theater’s production of Hamlet and unexpectedly wins the role of Ophelia—the girl who is undone by madness, and her love of Hamlet…

Isaac Pearce is from the ‘wrong side of the tracks.’ The town bad boy. Girls pine for his attention and guys are in awe of him. That he’s an acting prodigy only adds to his charisma. Isaac utterly disappears into his characters; the stage is the only place he feels safe from his own traumatic home life. He wants nothing more than to escape to Broadway or Hollywood and leave Harmony behind for good.

No one can play Hamlet but Isaac, and when the director pairs him with Willow in acting class, they clash again and again—neither willing to open their hearts to anyone. But clashing leads to breaking, breaking leads to the spilling of terrible secrets, and soon Isaac and Willow find Shakespeare’s words mirroring their lives. When they are cruelly torn apart, neither know how this play will end—with madness and heartache? Or healing, love, and the discovery of who they are truly meant to be.

In Harmony is a standalone YOUNG ADULT/NEW ADULT love story, and is intended for readers 18 and up. PLEASE NOTE, this book contains sensitive material such as physical abuse, and the aftermath of sexual assault (off the page). Reader discretion is advised.

EMMA SCOTT IS BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH ANOTHER EMOTIONAL RELEASE!

ARI: I didn't read the blurb before picking up In Harmony so I had no idea what this book was going to be about but having read Emma Scott's novels before, I knew I was in for an emotional roller coaster of a ride. After reading the dedication, I knew that In Harmony would be much different than Scott's previous books. It would be a story that would stay with me long after I read the last page.

BRITT: Emma Scott is an author that I had finally read for the first time last year, and after reading one of her books I instantly feel in love with her writing and story telling and she shot to the top of my faves list. Having a few books of hers read under my belt I've come to know that no matter what I read from her, I know that the story and characters will subtly come and pack a punch and as usual In Harmony was no different.

ARI: In Harmony is a story about two broken souls finding their voice through art. Emma Scott has taken a story line that I've read numerous times before, put her own creative spin on it and has crafted a story that utterly ruined me! I gotta say that the integration of the play Hamlet throughout this book was pretty damn unique and unexpected. Truthfully, I was never a fan of Hamlet but using it as a backdrop intensified this story. I loved how the play and this story kind of mirrored one another and how Hamlet and Ophelia's relationship was similar to Willow and Isaac's relationship. All these little details just brought more depth to story. As for the romance, it has Emma Scott's signature slow-burn written all over it. This story is about survivors so it's less about swoon-worthy moments and more about healing. I liked the fact that the romance wasn't used as a way to "save" either of these characters, but rather both Willow and Isaac provided each other with the support they needed in order open up and work through their fears. Their relationship felt authentic and I loved it.

BRITT: As I mentioned above Emma Scott knows how to create characters and story-lines that pack a punch in a very subtle way. You start off thinking you're reading a typical romance book but the more you read the more the feels creep onto you. You get so invested and and connected to it all which always makes for such a gripping story. In In Harmony we follow two lonely souls that are just trying to make it through each day. Each day is a day spent trying to survive and stay afloat despite everything going on around them. Willow and Isaac are seemingly the complete opposites on the outside, but on the inside there is so much that they can relate to. Thanks to a local play in town for Hamlet, these two end up having to spend a good amount of time together going over lines, but they unexpectedly get to know one another as well on a deeper level. The way that Scott was able to weave together parts of Hamlet with parts of the story and characters was unlike anything I think I've read before and I loved reading it. It made this read super unique and brought something a bit more to the overall story. The things both Willow and Isaac endured made them both damaged but their tentative friendship helped them both feel the support they may have felt lacking before, and it let them come to terms on ways they could have a better future. Like Ari has mentioned, this isn't a story about how love can "heal" or "save" someone from something but more like how friendship and support can create a framework for something stronger, and show that love can still be possible even if you felt like it never could've been before.

ARI: My heart broke completely for Willow Holloway. After being sexually assaulted, Willow has become a shell of herself and she struggles to cope with the aftermath. It also doesn't help that her parents aren't there for her emotionally. When her father announces that they will be moving due to his job, she uses the opportunity to find herself again and no longer live in the fear. Watching Willow struggle and break down was not easy. There was so much raw emotions on the page and I had to take break so I could cry my eyes out before continuing. But the pain was worth it because to see her build herself back up and find her voice to speak her truth was everything. Even if you haven't been where Willow has been, you will feel her pain, understand it and maybe even relate to it.

BRITT: Willow's story is one that a lot can relate to unfortunately. After being sexually assaulted she's only a shell of her former self now. Gone is the confident girl from NY that was outgoing in her actions. Now she's retreated into herself and keeping her assault hidden is starting to take a bigger and bigger tole on her. And her parents lack of care beyond the superficial isn't helping. When her dad announces they'll be moving to a much smaller town she's beyond ready to pack up and start over away from it all. Her story is truly heartbreaking and one that will make readers feel very emotional. Her story is also one that so many are facing right now. Scott shows the raw truth of how power, male power specifically can make it harder for women to come forward and speak up. So many times you hear people asking why someone who was abused didn't speak sooner, or you hear a survivor of abuse telling their story and saying how they waited so long because the abuser had more power or influence than them. That is really shown in this book and although it is utterly shitty, it's the hard truth that is in our society today. Watching Willow heal and speak her heart out through a simple play is so powerful. The more she found her voice in acting the more she started to find her voice again in her real life. She slowly took her life back after her abuser took it, and she proved that although it may be so damn hard at first, it is possible to have life again.

ARI:  When we first met Isaac Pearce, I wasn't quite sure what to make of him. He's not a man of many words, but his silence speaks volume. His family fell apart after his mother passed away and in a sense, so did he. He too has to find his voice again and he does so while on stage. That is where he bears his truth. I'll admit, it took me a while to warm up to Isaac, but once I did I realized that Willow isn't the only survivor in this story—Isaac is one too. It was in that moment that a switch flipped and I fell in love with Isaac's character and I just wanted him to find his own happiness.

BRITT: Issac was dealt is own hardships in life, and is still dealing with them when he's introduced in the story. He's slow to open up to anyone and because of his home life he faces a ton of scrutiny from the small town. But when he gets on stage it's all forgotten. Instead of being the bad guy with no money that lives on the wrong side of town he's whoever he wants to be on stage. When he's performing in front of an audience they don't talk about the bruises he would get at the hands of his father, or bring up his mother's death. It was all about his performance in those moments if even for a little bit. He was never expecting to find a friend in Willow or even love for that matter because he was only focused on leaving the town for good and become an actor. Willow comes along and shows him that you can find beauty in anything, whether it be the new girl that's just has lost and damaged as he is, or in the town that once made him want to flee with no looking back.

ARI: In the blurb (which I read went back and read after I finished, lol) it states "In Harmony...gives a voice to the voiceless..." and Emma Scott did just that! Willow's story is a powerful, emotional and impactful read and one that is so relevant considering all that is going on in today's society. I don't think I will ever get tired of praising Emma Scott for all her words and if you do decide to pick this book up, have all the tissues handy because you're gonna need them!

BRITT: In Harmony brought me what I've come to expect from Emma's writing so far. A deeply emotional story-line, with gripping characters that will stay with you even after finishing. The subject matter of this one is so important, especially at this time, because it brings to light something that so many are quick to dismiss. Even though it can be such an ugly situation, this book still shows that there is beauty and strength in falling to your lowest point, getting back up again, and proving that your voice, your soul, and that YOU matter. No matter if you're already an Emma Scott fan or not, without a doubt you will fall in love with this book and remember it long after you've read the last page.

TWO WEDDING CRASHERS by MEGHAN QUINN
★★★

“Happily ever after. That's what my world revolves around and yet, I struggle to find one myself.”
Two Wedding Crashers is the second book in the Dating by Numbers series and by far Meghan Quinn's most hilarious book to date. Fair warning, don't read this book while consuming any foods or liquids because you might choke from laughing too much. I should also like to note that while this book can be read as a standalone, I still suggest picking up the first book in this series because you're not gonna wanna miss out on the shenanigans in that book.

Two Wedding Crashers is a romance about two people who've been guarded from love for so long that once it's standing in front of them, they're not quite sure what to do next. I was a little hesitant going into this book because truth be told, I wasn't a big fan of Beck Wilder's character in Three Blind Dates. He was kind of a playboy with a secret past and I thought he would continue to play games in this sequel, but he surprised me so much! I ended up falling so hard for Beck and I think once I got a better understanding for why he was so guarded, I let his previous behavior slide. He is a genuine softie and I loved how he was willing to do whatever to takes to win Rylee's heart. While I loved Beck, it took me a really long time to feel the same way about Rylee Ryan. She's a hilarious character and I loved that she was a romance writer, but I just couldn't connect with until the end. I was also expecting her secret to be a little more...dramatic, considering the way she was acting and all.

I wanna give some love to the secondary characters in this book. Beck and Rylee's friends are a riot and there were times I couldn't breathe because I was laughing too hard from their dialogue. I am dying, and I mean DYING to read the next book in this series. I need to know how the fuck Hayden became someone's baby daddy and I'm also hoping to catch up with the boys from the Binghampton series.
ALPHAS LIKE US by KRISTA & BECCA RITCHIE

“I know and he knows that what we share is greater and stronger than whatever the world has to throw at us. We won't end here.
The Like Us series and I got off on a rocky start but along the way the series has somewhat grown on me. I'm not completely sold on the series yet, but I'm still sticking around to see what happens to the mini Hales, Cobalts and Meadows. Also, I'm a sucker for drama and I swear this series is just like Keeping Up with the Kardashians but in book form.

Alphas Like Us picks up right where Lovers Like Us left off as Moffy and Farrow's relationship is now out in the public eye and everyone and they mama wants to throw in their two cents about it. I'm just gonna get this out of the way and say that the main reason why I'm still not loving this series is because of Moffy. I've come to accept that our personalities are polar opposites and we will never connect. However, I am starting to like Farrow more. I think he's good for Moffy's ego. He grounds him and it's why they make a good match.

Besides the nosy ass public getting in between Moffy and Farrow's relationship, we see Farrow making tough decisions about his future and what career path he wants to take. I wish we could've focused more on that aspect of the story instead of all the fame drama. I loved the fact that we got see more of the younger kids in this book! They are so freakin' sassy, it was adorable! So Moffy and Farrow's love story has come to an end (for now) and I'm so ready to move on the Jane's book. I've been waiting over a year for Jane's book so it better live up to all my expectations!

SIN WITH ME by J.A. HUSS & JONATHAN MCCLAIN
★★★

“He is everything I need tonight. Like...salvation. He's my fucking salvation.”
I am a huge fan of J.A. Huss' dark romances but I wasn't quite sure what to expect with her newest release. Collaborations are always a hit or miss with me and while I'm willing to give new-to-me authors the benefit of the doubt, sometimes I just can't connect with their way of storytelling.

Sin With Me is an erotica romance about two broken souls trying to find their way in the city of sin. Tyler is haunted by demons from the past and he just wishes he could fix all his past mistakes. Maddie is a stripper who can't seem to get her life together. The pair end up meeting one night and their lives are forever changed.

The main reason why I didn't enjoy this book as much as I would've liked is because I wasn't a fan of McClain's writing. It was a bit over the top and all the capitalization in the dialogue was just unnecessary. The plot was all over the place and it's because of all the secrets that both Tyler and Maddie are hiding but I felt like things could've gone smoother. The romance isn't really a romance just yet, it's just all lust right now but considering there are three more books to go, I'm sure things will start to develop more between these two in the next book. I'm still going to pick up the sequel because that cliffhanger has me hooked and I need to know what is going to happen next!

Title: Memphis
Author: Ginger Scott
Publication Date: February 23, 2018
Publisher: Self-published
Links: Goodreads || Amazon

Rating: ★★
Synopsis via Goodreads: My mom always said it was just something about the way he moved.

The same swagger Archie Valentine wore in the ring when he took his opponents down followed him like a halo everywhere he went. But make no mistake about it—he was no angel. He was like a drug. My mother was his addict.

I never understood it…how love could make you blind and convince you to drink the poison. Not until I met Memphis Delaney.

At first, it was the familiar form. He’s a fighter, built like a god from the past, the kind of man the universe doesn’t make anymore. His eyes hide a story, and every time I’m in his presence I want to keep reading him until I get to the end. And then…there’s the way he moves. His boxing is violent but beautiful, and his body is a seductive weapon. When he’s in the ring, he wears the stare of a man committed to the battle until his very last breath.

He could end me; turn me into her. Too much of him will leave me as a shadow, and I’ve lost so much of myself already.

But I have discipline. It came the hard way. Lessons learned, scars left behind, and trust stripped away from life.

I will breathe his air, but I won’t fall for a man like him. The only boxer who’s ever going to break my heart is the one who gave me my name.
Memphis is a fighter romance about getting back up no matter how many times life knocks you down. After her ex-husband is convicted in a Ponzi scheme, Olivia Valentine finds herself right back at the one place she tried so hard to run away from. The Valentine family is anything but welcoming and while her return home may be only temporary, Olivia can't stop herself from wanting to know more about Memphis Delaney, a fighter who trains at her family's gym. Sparks fly and although she may have been reluctant at first, Olivia slowly starts falling for Memphis. But when the past comes to light, what ends up being revealed may just break these two apart.

I had no idea what to expect when I picked up Ginger Scott's latest release but it's been a long ass time since I last read a fighter romance so I was excited to see what Scott was serving up. Memphis is a romance with layers. It starts off slow and the thing is, I went into this book expecting a very simple romance, but I was totally thrown for a loop. I don't want to give too much away because the plot-twist is just too good to be spoiled for but holy hell what a twist! I did not see this story taking that kind of turn and Ginger Scott did an amazing job at bringing this story full circle.

Liv's family wins the award for being ONE OF THE WORST FICTIONAL FAMILY I've ever read about. I don't think there is even a word to describe how much hatred I feel for them but they truly are worst than scum. All their actions, their lies, their snakish ways made my blood boil because how can one be so cruel to their own flesh and blood? They are not redeemable in anyway and they deserved so much worse than what they got.

Memphis Delaney stole my heart! He's been knocked down a few times but he always gets back in the ring. I think what surprised me most about Memphis was his laid-back personality. I thought he would have a lot of built up aggression considering his back story, but he is so kind and willing to help those in need. Memphis is by far my favorite hero by Ginger Scott has written to date! Although Olivia might not want to admit it, she definitely has some fighter instincts in her. She may be rough around the edges, but there is a softness to her and Memphis helps to bring that part out. The romance is a slow-burning one which is understandable since Liv is so hell-bent on not following in her mother's footsteps by falling in love with a fighter. It's ironic because all these two ever wanted was a place to call home and they managed to find that in each other.

The epilogue absolutely gutted me. It was told from a POV that wasn't Memphis or Liv's and I wasn't expecting that but it was beautiful! I CRIED ALL THE TEARS AND I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER WAY TO END THIS STORY!

I don't think I've said this before but Ginger Scott is truly an amazing writer and if you haven't read one of her books yet then what are you waiting for?! Her ability to turn what would seem like a simple romance into something so much more is a gift and I can't wait to see what type of romance Scott brings us next!

SEX, NOT LOVE by VI KEELAND
★★★
36593240
“I think you stole a piece of my heart the first night we met.”
Can we take a minute to admire this fine ass specimen with the dreamy bedroom eyes on the cover? That sultry stare is the main reason why I picked up this book. Actually who am I kidding—the cover was the ONLY reason why I picked up this book. I didn't even read the blurb before I dived into this one so I had no idea what to expect. Now that I've revealed my cover whorish ways, let's see if the rest of the book was just as sexy as its cover.

Sex, Not Love is a standalone romance all about taking a chance on love. Natalia and Hunter are two people who have been hurt in the past and they're not willing to put their hearts on the line again...or so they think. This book started off on a funny note with Natalia and Hunter running into each other every few months and I enjoyed seeing them go back and forth and watching Hunter charm his way into Natalia's life. Hunter eventually wears Natalia down and the two agree on a friends-with-benefits relationship. Hunter not only manages to charm Natalia, but also Natalia's family and her stepdaughter. Family plays an important role in this story and it's one of the reason why I enjoyed it so much. I especially loved Natalia's relationship with her stepdaughter, Isabella, and seeing their relationship that started off rocky become more stable with time. Also, Natalia's mama is hilarious. She is the reason why you don't mess with Italian mamas!

I honestly thought I wouldn't like Hunter when I first met him because he does come off as being cocky, but that's really all for show. He's actually a sweetheart and despite his words, he does care a lot for Natalia. Natalia on the other hand is so easy to love. I admire her strength and the fact that she put Isabella's well-being before anything. The romance does take some time to build which is understandable given Natalia's current situation with her ex-husband. Hunter also has issues of his own and the two must work through those issues before they can take the next step in their relationship. The wait for a happy ending does pay off and I'm glad that these two were able to put their fears aside and allow themselves the chance to let love in again. This may be my first book by Vi Keeland, but it most certainly won't be my last. I can't believe I waited so long to read one of Keeland's books but I sure as hell won't be putting off reading her other books any longer.
BURIED IN LIES  by T.L. SMITH
★★
36153814
“...to fall for the madman you must first taste the devil.
T.L. Smith is a new-to-me-author who I discovered when the cover for Buried in Lies was revealed. This cover literally gave me chills and I was crossing my fingers that this dark romance would end up being a winner since I haven't had much luck when it comes to dark romances this year.

Buried in Lies is a suspenseful tale about twisted siblings and the girl who came between them. Jaya usually keeps to herself, that is until she meets Toska and her brother Syler and her world is turned upside down. This book started off good and I was completely sucked in with trying to figure out what exactly these siblings were up to and then shit hit the fan and the plot was just all over the place. I think my main issue was that there was just too much craziness going on at once and I wish instead that Smith took the time to develop the plot more. There was also no shock value. Like where was my shookethness??

I don't really know how I feel about any of these characters. I don't hate them, but I don't very well like them either. I guess they didn't really leave much of an impression on me. I was really rooting for the romance in this book and I liked the whole "mouse and wolf play" that Jaya and Syler had going on. But then everything just went downhill because of the sibling drama and Jaya's indecisiveness. The last 25% of the book is basically Jaya deciding whether or not she should leave town and it was just a waste because the conflict ends up being easily resolved and I was left feeling unsatisfied. Buried in Lies was an okay read that fell short in the end. I'm not sure if I'll pick up Smith's books in the future but if I do, I hope they're better than this book.
FREE FALL by EMILY GOODWIN
★★½

“Nora is light. I am dark. Am I a fool for thinking she can brighten my life without me darkening hers?.”
I've seen rave reviews about Emily Goodwin's books in the past so I decided to pick up her latest release and give her romances a try. Fun fact, the models on the cover are actually a couple in real life! How adorable is that??!!

Free Fall is an emotional romance about finding the light when you're surrounded by darkness. Nora Fisher and Jack Harrington both have rough pasts and it's what ends up bringing them together. I really enjoyed the writing in this book and even shed a few tears here and there. What kept me from enjoying this story more was that I felt like some parts were just too over the top for my liking, especially when it came to the romance. There were just unnecessary drama and excuses for why these two shouldn't be together. Like don't make things harder than they have to be, lol. I also felt that this story could've been cut down by a few chapters if it weren't for the drama.

I loved Nora from the start! This girl has been through hell and has lost so much, yet she still has this ability to be so selfless and positive. I was just rooting for her to find her forever home so she was no longer on her own. I didn't quite connect with Jack as much as I would've liked. I can't put my finger on it, but there was just something missing for me when it came to his character. I did like how Jack's PTSD was handled. It was accurately portrayed and I appreciated the fact that there wasn't a "quick fix" to his trauma. Instead, Jack and Nora work together to help him deal with his PTSD in a healthy manner and take things day by day. While there were some things about Free Fall that I didn't like, I'll definitely be reading more of Goodwin's books in the future. Hopefully those will end up being more of a hit.

Title: Roomies

Author: Christina Lauren

My Rating: ★★★★.5
Marriages of convenience are so…inconvenient.

Rescued by Calvin McLoughlin from a would-be subway attacker, Holland Bakker pays the brilliant musician back by pulling some of her errand-girl strings and getting him an audition with a big-time musical director. When the tryout goes better than even Holland could have imagined, Calvin is set for a great entry into Broadway—until he admits his student visa has expired and he’s in the country illegally.

Holland impulsively offers to wed the Irishman to keep him in New York, her growing infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves from awkward roommates to besotted lovers, Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway. In the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting, what will it take for Holland and Calvin to realise that they both stopped pretending a long time ago?
Links:

Picture this. Your uncle's very successful Broadway show just lost one of their star performers. Everyone is stressing out wondering how they'll be able to fill the gap in time to continue on with the show. You happen to know of a subway performer that can play the guitar like no one else you've ever heard. Whenever he strums this guitar you're pretty sure that angles sing from the high heavens in big praise, and you're so positive that he's the perfect fit for the spot. You bring him in for an audition and thankfully everyone loves him just as much as you do. Everything is going perfectly, or so it seems because soon everyone learns that your perfect player is here in the country illegally. Of course everyone is super bummed including him because this is the once in the lifetime chance that he's been waiting years for. While everyone else goes back to the drawing board to figure out the next step you do the craziest thing. You marry said guitarist so that he can not only stay in the U.S. but also so he can take the job. Crazy right? What's even crazier is that the more you two go on with your marriage the more "right" it all starts to feel. What happens when a marriage on convenience starts to feel like just a...marriage?

Roomies was a book that I wasn't too interested in at first mostly because I didn't know too much about it at first. But after seeing literally everyone rave about it and after seeing what it was about I was so interested in reading it. Plus I've heard from some very close blogging buddies that Christina Lauren are amazing at creating some cute lighthearted books that really fun to read. And after reading this one I can really see the hype surrounding them!! These two ladies definitely know how to create a fun story-line, and give the reader something entertaining to read. And I know for a fact that I'll be binging more of their books in the future.

I think one of the things I loved the most about Roomies was Holland. As a character I found her so damn relatable!! Well, besides the whole "marrying a stranger" part but still lol. She's at this point in her life where she has no damn clue what to do with her life, and even what she does think will be a good idea she's still unsure and lost as to how she'll even get there. She went to school for writing but she's hit such a road block with that and hasn't had any inspiration for her writing in the longest time. As far as her day job goes it's a job that her uncle pretty much made up for her so that she can have something to pay the bills, and although she is super thankful for how much it help her out and how much he loves her, she can't help but to feel like a burden. Everyone else at the theater knows how and why she has a job and she just feels like no one takes her too seriously as a result. Her struggles with finding her true passion and feeling like she may never reach a where she really belongs in the work aspects of her life hit me right in the gut because I'm definitely at that point in my life. Reading about a character going through my exact struggles just really showed that everyone reaches a rough patch in their lives, and at the end of the day that's okay.

I also really loved Calvin. His passion and for his music and his desire to reach success to were so great to read about. His struggles were completely different from Holland's, but also somewhat the same. He knows exactly what he wants to do with his life and has been making big strides towards it for years, but his roadblock is getting that big break. Although he gets his with the theater he he's still super supportive of Holland and does whatever he can to help her to figure out what she wants to do. He becomes an unexpected friend to Holland in the time that they start their marriage process and it was so sweet to read. I loved seeing their relationship bloom and progress and I was hit with a big case of the swoons. I did want to shake them both a few times towards the end, but overall I really LOVED this book!!

Another aspect I really loved was the theater itself. The descriptions of the building and the production played out in my head every time it was mentioned and it made it so fun to be able to picture such a big part of the book. I could see Calvin on that stage every single time, I saw the lights and the audience of the big show, it was all described so well and I loved that we got what was promised synopsis.

I could go on and on but I'll hush now hahah!! Roomies is a sweet, lighthearted book about two strangers who come together under unlikely circumstances. Their journey is one that will have you swooning from the beginning, while also giving you a glimpse behind the scenes of what it takes to bring a theater production center stage.

Now excuse me while I go devour more Christina Lauren books!!

BRAVE by TAMMARA WEBBER
★★★

“I don't know where I'm going yet, but it's a big wide world, and I'm too young to give up and throw in the towel on my life.”
After waiting over two and a half years, the next book in Contours of the Heart series was finally released. Y'all, I've been dying to get my hands on this book ever since Tammara Webber announced a release date. Not gonna lie, I really had my doubts about whether or not Webber would ever release this book, but once she did, all I wanted to do was devour it.

Brave follows our two main characters, Erin McIntyre and Isaac Matt. Now, if you need a little refresher since it's been a while, Erin is the best friend of Jacqueline who is the heroine in Easy. Erin has just graduated college and she's a bit lost when it comes to deciding her next step in life, so she accepts a job at her father's company. There she is put to work under Isaac Matt who she believes can't stand the sight of her. But despite his cold demeanor, Erin can't help but feel a connection with Isaac but is she willing to risk her new job to find out if he feels the same way too?

Brave is not at all what I had expected it to be. I went into this one expecting a slow-burning romance with a great amount of tension, and don't get me wrong, the romance is exactly just that but the story itself is reminiscent of a coming-of-age story. Erin is a heroine I related to so hard. We're kind of both in a similar position as she too in unsure what she wants to do with her life, which path she wants to take, which career she wants pursue. All her feelings and thoughts were literally things I've been thinking about for the past few months and it was like she was in my head, lol. I admire the fact that Webber showed us this other side to Erin and I enjoyed seeing her find her voice and the courage to eventually go after her dream.

Patience is something you'll need when it comes to the romance aspect in this book. This romance is slow as molasses in January. I'm talking you ain't getting no grand gestures until about 80%, but again the romance isn't the focus of this story. I very much enjoyed the slow-build between these two and once the plot twistis revealed, you will understand why Isaac was hesitant to take things further. Isaac is a boss y'all. I spent most of the book wishing his POV was included as well, but I'm kind of glad now that it wasn't after the twist was revealed. Brave was definitely worth the wait, but I'm hoping that I don't have to wait another three years until Tammara Webber releases her next book.
WHORE  by WILLOW ASTER

“No one plans to be a whore. But these are the repercussions. It's my blood. And I will never escape it.
Whore is a book I picked up after seeing it being hyped up on Twitter and Goodreads and I wanted to know why. I'll admit, before this book I've never heard of Willow Aster before but I'm always up for discovering new authors so I hoped that this book would be as good as everyone was claiming it to be.

Whore follows our main character, Lilith Fontenot. Lilith, for a lack of a better word, is a whore. She works at Maison D'amour, which fronts as an upscale spa and is owned by her mother. All her life, Lilith has never been able to make a decision for herself. She's trapped in a life she so desperately wants to escape and when the opportunity strikes for that escape, will she take it?

Fun fact, I have a soft spot for dark romances where the heroine is some type of sex worker or stripper or anything related to this field. I think it's because that these types of heroines are usually put down by all other characters in the story and people don't expect them to be anything more than what they are. That is, until these heroines decide enough is enough and take matters into their own hands. Whore started out in a similar manner. Lili's mother has always controlled her life and now she is forcing her to be with a man who used her a long time ago and has come back to do the same again. But a fire occurs at Maison D'amour and Lili uses this as a chance to escape. The thing with Whore and why I didn't end up enjoying it as much was the fact that the plot was all over the place. The story starts off strong and then we get to about 25% and then things take a strong turn in an unexpected direction and to be honest, it didn't make any sense. It felt very unnecessary because Lili just ends up back at square one again. From about 30-70%, NOTHING HAPPENS. Nothing interesting anyways and by the time the story picks back up again, I had already lost interest.

The romance itself was weak because the plot is all over the place. I didn't have any connection with Soti, who is the love interest and also helps Lili escape in the first place. Everything just felt instant, like I didn't feel like these two had enough time to get to know one another for them to develop such strong feelings. I do like Lili, for the most part. But again, the story itself made it hard for me to connect with her since things were all over the place. Will I read another book by this author? Who knows, but if I do, it won't be anytime soon.
THREE BLIND DATES by MEGHAN QUINN

“Your heart is never blind.”
When I first read the blurb for Three Blind Dates, I side-eyed the fuck out of it. I absolutely hate romances with geometrical relationships and I wanted to know exactly what type of games Meghan Quinn was playing when she sat down to write this story. Because Meghan was playing some games y'all so you might wanna strap your eReaders to your hands before diving in.

Three Blind Dates is a modern spin on the movie You've Got Mail and follows our heroine, Noely Clark who is a co-host on the TV show Good Morning, Malibu. Noely is tired of the dating scene and is ready to settle down with 'The One'. But first, she needs to find him. She is approached by a new restaurant called Going in Blind and agrees to let them help her find her perfect match. But it's not as simple as it seems when Noely's hearts falls for not one, but three potential matches.

I have never read a book that had me so stressed that I ended up wanting to pull me hair out. Like seriously, if I hadn't had tied my hair up while reading, I would be half-bald. But the stress is so worth it because I am head-over-heels in love with this new series. It's witty with twist and turns that will have you guessing until the end. I absolutely adored the secondary characters. Alex and his wife Lauren are a riot. They're the oddest couple I've ever met and there's never a dull moment when these two are around. While most of this story is on the funnier side, you will need some patience when it comes to the romance, hence why I wanted to pull out my hair.

I completely adore Noely. I love her personality and she has all the damn patience in the world because I would've quit the program once shit started going down hill. Homegirl was just trying to find love and I felt like a cheerleader on the sideline rooting for her to find her Prince Charming! And then we have our three eligible bachelors (sort of): Hayden Holmes, Beck Wilder, and Jack. Now, I'm not gonna talk too much about the guys because I'm not giving away any clues to which one of them ends up being endgame, but I will say that I went in being #TeamHayden. I am bias though since we had already met Hayden in one of Meghan's previous books so I already had a crush on the guy. I'm am so anxious for the next two books in this series, especially after seeing the title for the third book because I need answers. Meghan is definitely not finished playing games but this time I will be ready for them...I think?
