TITLE: Ante Up

AUTHOR: Christina C. Jones

PUBLICATION DATE: January 24, 2017

MY RATING:★★★★★
I know exactly why it turns you on…because you’re messed up too.
Asha’s life is no fairytale, by any stretch of the imagination. There was no kind, generous father to care for and protect her from the Vegas that exists beyond the glitz and glamour of The Strip. No wise, doting mother to look over and guide her, passing down essential lessons and leading her to the right path. And certainly no Prince Charming just around the corner, ready to rescue her from working late nights to cover steadily mounting bills.
But she’s alive. Overwhelmed with responsibility she never asked for, carrying secrets and scars that haunt her, and singularly focused on an uncertain path to escape, but… alive.
You’re not born to sharks without becoming one yourself.
In Vegas, King is exactly what his name implies. Born into money and influence, but respected – and feared – in his own right. The privileges of wealth have afforded him many things: freedom, power, massive eligibility – while simultaneously leaving him exposed to others: betrayal, exploitation, and manipulation.
But he learned. The tolls of duplicity, wrath, and vengeance have taught him to be more mindful, more shrewd, to keep himself clear of the vulnerability of certain situations, certain business deals, certain places, and certain women.
Women like Asha.
Like attracts like…
Her poker face has kept her alive all this time, and he keeps his cards close to his chest. Neither is interested in gambling their hearts, but when they can’t stay away from each other, there’s only one choice… ante up.

Another hit by the amazingly talented Christina C. Jones has me all hype and excited!! You guys know I read a loved her book Love on the Highlight Reel the other week, and after doing so I just HAD to read another one of her books, because I wasn't ready to be done with her story telling just yet. Which led me to read one of her newer books Ante Up (p.s. she has a very extensive back log of books out and it's my goal to read every one of them)

Ante Up is a little bit different than what I've read of Christina's (so far), and it was a good different. This story has a hint of some darker serious themes, but not anything that's too uncomfortable.

Asha has had a hard life, from an abusive father with a gambling problem, her mother's health problems, and her brother who gets in more trouble than one can handle. Because of her mother's health condition Asha has given up her corporate to make faster money at a casino in Vegas. Racking up some cash at the tables during her free time has helped keep some things afloat, and its after winning at one of these tables where she meets the elusive King. Passion ignites that night and Asha thinks she'll never see the mysterious man again...that's until she discovers he's not only the owner of the club, but also the owner of most of the clubs on Vegas

King and is family have built up a legacy in Vegas for not just their business skills, but also because they're a black family making big moves. Because of his family's business he's had to uphold a reputation that not only honors his family with dignity, but also still shows that he's not one to fuck around with.

In Ante Up you get a sizzling, sexy story set in the exciting city of Vegas. And with Christina's captivating writing you're able to see everything being described, and feel every emotion. I felt for Asha a lot because she was constantly having to be strong for all of those around her so much that she forgot to take care of herself sometimes, and I loved that King wanted to help her see that. Although things started out a bit unconventional for them it still worked for them because of their pasts.

Once again King is mine, I have laid claim on him, and can't none of y'all have him so don't even try it.

He was so strong and dominant, yet gentle and caring when needed to be. I mean what more can you ask for??

And Asha could hold her own as well, she was such a strong badass black woman who wasn't afraid to go after what she wanted, no matter what obstacles were in her way. I never once got annoyed with her or her actions (as I do with a lot of characters sometimes), and I think her and King were made for one another.

If you're looking for a hot and sexy story with A+ writing and character development, and an exciting storyline involving Vegas casinos then look no further!! Ante Up brings all that plus a lot more, you will not be disappointed!!
